Grown by members of the Karuhiu Farmers Cooperative Society Limited on farms in Kanguru, Githathi, Karugiro, Macahaku, Kinjege, Mutitu lower and Mutitu upper. The co-op is made up of 650 coffee producers.
Coffee is selectively picked by hand to ensure cherries are picked at optimal ripeness then taken to the wet mill for processing. At the mill, the coffee cherries are sorted, pulped, fermented for 12-36 hours, then washed and graded. The beans are then sun-dried.
The result is a sweet, rich, full-bodied brew that is typical of a high quality Kenyan coffee.
