This Micro lot comes from the Asprobalboa group who are part of the Cosurca Cooperative located in Timbio just to the south of Popayan in Cauca. They represent 11 farmer organisations and 1500 families spread across the Colombian Massif in central & south Cauca. The Coop was established in 1993 to help farmers and their communities prosper both economically & socially. The cooperative has a number of programs looking at post conflict resolution, women’s empowerment, youth promotion, general education, ethnic minorities & environmental harmony.

On the farms coffee is planted amongst banana and guamo trees which help to provide shade. These farms are just 1- 2 ha maximum in size. During the harvest from May to September the coffee is hand-picked rotating around the farm every 8 days. The coffee is then pulped on the same day of collection. The coffee is then left to ferment for 12 – 16 hours in concrete tanks before then being washed and then dried in a parabolic driers for 7 – 10 days.
